We Have a winner!

Congratulations to Nate Lane, winner of our December Library Question of the Month

The Question: This 19th century artist and ornithologist is best known for creating the first great collection of American birds that were drawn in their natural habitats. Copies of his work – in several formats – are available at the library. Who is this artist and what is the name of his most famous work?

The Answer:  The artist is John James Audubon.  Audubon's most famous work is The Birds of America.

Question of the Month

Time Magazine recently recommended the debut novel of this 1997 Deerfield Academy’s alumna within its on-going column “The Short List of Things to Do”. A recipient of the 2006 Amanda Davis Highwire Fiction Award , her work has also been published in 2008 Best American Short Stories' 100 Distinguished Stories.

A Letter to Albert Einstein

The Boyden Library February Question of the Month involves a letter to Albert Einstein.

The Question:  A little known fact about this Deerfield Academy alumnus (whose courage is immortalized in a bestselling memoir* and a 1975 Emmy nominated movie* is that he corresponded with Albert Einstein while still a student at DA. Who is this student?
